Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle round up from 2013.

                                                   2013 Favourites.

Alohaaa!

I can’t believe I am writing a yearly favourites already. Overall 2013 has been a good year for me, like everything else there has been ups and downs but I have generally enjoyed this year. I had a lovely Christmas day we didn’t do much at all but it was just nice spending time with my loved ones exchanging gifts, watching movies and most importantly having that yummy Christmas dinner! I was spoiled this Christmas and I’m feeling very loved and lucky! There was so much thought put into gifts I received and gifts I gave and I’m just really thankful for my friends and family. This week is my final week in my Christmas job which I am very sad about but here’s hoping for a new job that I will love just as much in the New Year! Even though I will not have a job anymore, I have exams and assignments that need to be done before the end of the month and I am starting a mentorship! I am so excited to see what 2014 brings with this blog, college and everything else in between! So sit back relax and please enjoy todays post :)

Beauty:

Mac Studio Fix Fluid.

I fell in love with this foundation in 2013. It was the first thing I have ever bought from MAC and it’s probably been one of my best buys of the year. It is a medium to heavy coverage which makes the skin look flawless. I use it when I’m going on a night out or somewhere special so I feel my upmost. I will be doing a more in-depth review of it in the next coming weeks so stay tuned!

The Naked Pallet.

I have the first and second naked pallet but the first one is still the best in my opinion. I favour the first one because the warmer colours suit my eye colour better. I think the original naked pallet is the perfect pallet for a Smokey eye and that’s all that concerns me when looking at eye shadows.

Skincare.

Towards the end of the year from September to December I got really into skin care. This is for many reasons but to sum it up my skin was going through a really rough patch. I went through a few different brands and routines until I found my latest one. My skin seems like it is starting to clear now but I don’t want to jinx it too much. So when my skin is all clear I will do a full review on my skincare routine.

Fashion:

There are a few fashion things I loved this year however, Pencil Skirts stole the number one spot. They are my favourite fashion item to come out of 2013 and I will be carrying them into 2014 for sure. I just love all kinds of pencil skirts but my two favourites are from River Island! I think they are so flattering and can make any outfit dressy or chic. One thing I want to change about my 2014 wardrobe is finding a good division between my casual and nightwear because I always have more casual then dressy or vice versa.

Entertainment:

Bar/pub: This year I fell in love with a brand of bars called the porter house. The one in temple bar is my ultimate favourite. It is the biggest one in Dublin and I think it has the best atmosphere. They do the most delicious cocktails and great food it is just a really cool place to go for drinks or just a few casuals with friends.

Music:
The 1975 and Kodaline are my favourite bands that have come out of 2013.
I can’t quite remember when I started listening to the Kodaline! I went to see them at the 2013 Longitude festival with Tara in July and we loved them live! I then got tickets for my birthday for their 02 gig in March 2014 which I am so excited for because I know more songs than I did back in July. In November just gone I actually met the band when they were in my work busking and doing a meet and greet, signing albums and taking pictures. They are such lovely lads and are so talented. I can’t wait until March!

So even though I clearly love Kodaline, the 1975 stole my heart this year. I can’t fault them at all, their album is so well put together and I am so sad I’m not going to their concert in February. I have been listening to them non-stop on a loop since July and I have even converted some friends to loving the band. So far it’s alright, heart out, settle down and girls are my favourite songs. Give them a listen they are worth it!

Films:

Catching Fire: This was my most awaited film this year. I can’t even begin to describe my love for the hunger games trilogy, I plan on re reading them and over watching the films until the final one comes out next year. The books are amazing and the catching fire film did the book justice. It was brilliantly made and an amazing cinematic experience. I can’t wait to see it again!

The Great Gatsby.
Phenomenal. That is the first word I thought of describing this film. How Leonardo DiCaprio has not won an Oscar is a shock to me. He is so amazing and the true essence of this film. I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing Jay Gatsby. Between the soundtrack and the actors, the storyline if lifted and made 1000 times better. I have already over watched this film but I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of it. If you haven’t seen it where have you been?!

Lifestyle:
DCU: Passing my first year of college has made a huge impact on my life this year. Between getting into DCU and then going on to pass my first year in college is something I am very proud of. I am now in the middle of my second year and waiting semester one results, an exam at the end of January and a final assignment that is due on the 10th. I am trying my best not to stress and just get on with it. I love my course and I am so excited for semester two!

Friends:  It is so cliché but this year has really opened my eyes to who is really there for me and who I am there for. There have been several events that I have looked back on a realised who was actually there for me when I needed them the most. It’s all well and good having loads of friends but when it comes down to being there for one another, you have to look and see would they be willing to do things you would for them? Would they help you like you’ve helped them before? If yes is the answer to the both of those rhetorical questions, good for you! But if it’s a no maybe you should think about having a talk with your “friends”. If that doesn’t work maybe letting them go is the best option. In the end it is best to surround yourself with people that will lift you higher, not drag you down.

And my final round up of 2013 is Blogging: A very big part of my year was delving into the world of blogging and I am so glad I started. I always wanted to write but I felt like it was a farfetched dream and I would never actually be able to start. This was until May when I got a little push and started to make this dream into a reality. Writing this blog is something I look forward to writing every week. Even if it is to a small audience, I don’t really mind because I enjoy it and that’s all that matters to me. I have many plans for 2014 so stick around if you want to see where this blog takes me.

Au revoir until next time and happy New Year!
