Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle round up from 2013.

                                                   2013 Favourites.

Alohaaa!

I can’t believe I am writing a yearly favourites already. Overall 2013 has been a good year for me, like everything else there has been ups and downs but I have generally enjoyed this year. I had a lovely Christmas day we didn’t do much at all but it was just nice spending time with my loved ones exchanging gifts, watching movies and most importantly having that yummy Christmas dinner! I was spoiled this Christmas and I’m feeling very loved and lucky! There was so much thought put into gifts I received and gifts I gave and I’m just really thankful for my friends and family. This week is my final week in my Christmas job which I am very sad about but here’s hoping for a new job that I will love just as much in the New Year! Even though I will not have a job anymore, I have exams and assignments that need to be done before the end of the month and I am starting a mentorship! I am so excited to see what 2014 brings with this blog, college and everything else in between! So sit back relax and please enjoy todays post :)

Beauty:

Mac Studio Fix Fluid.

http://www.brownthomas.com/foundation/studio-fix-fluid-spf-15-30ml/invt/77x1832xm6jc

I fell in love with this foundation in 2013. It was the first thing I have ever bought from MAC and it’s probably been one of my best buys of the year. It is a medium to heavy coverage which makes the skin look flawless. I use it when I’m going on a night out or somewhere special so I feel my upmost. I will be doing a more in-depth review of it in the next coming weeks so stay tuned!

The Naked Pallet.

http://www.urbandecay.com/urban-decay/eye-makeup/naked/245.html

I have the first and second naked pallet but the first one is still the best in my opinion. I favour the first one because the warmer colours suit my eye colour better. I think the original naked pallet is the perfect pallet for a Smokey eye and that’s all that concerns me when looking at eye shadows.

Skincare.

Towards the end of the year from September to December I got really into skin care. This is for many reasons but to sum it up my skin was going through a really rough patch. I went through a few different brands and routines until I found my latest one. My skin seems like it is starting to clear now but I don’t want to jinx it too much. So when my skin is all clear I will do a full review on my skincare routine.

Fashion:

There are a few fashion things I loved this year however, Pencil Skirts stole the number one spot. They are my favourite fashion item to come out of 2013 and I will be carrying them into 2014 for sure. I just love all kinds of pencil skirts but my two favourites are from River Island! I think they are so flattering and can make any outfit dressy or chic. One thing I want to change about my 2014 wardrobe is finding a good division between my casual and nightwear because I always have more casual then dressy or vice versa.

Entertainment:

Bar/pub: This year I fell in love with a brand of bars called the porter house. The one in temple bar is my ultimate favourite. It is the biggest one in Dublin and I think it has the best atmosphere. They do the most delicious cocktails and great food it is just a really cool place to go for drinks or just a few casuals with friends.
http://www.porterhousebrewco.com/bars-dublin-temple.php#

Music:
The 1975 and Kodaline are my favourite bands that have come out of 2013.
I can’t quite remember when I started listening to the Kodaline! I went to see them at the 2013 Longitude festival with Tara in July and we loved them live! I then got tickets for my birthday for their 02 gig in March 2014 which I am so excited for because I know more songs than I did back in July. In November just gone I actually met the band when they were in my work busking and doing a meet and greet, signing albums and taking pictures. They are such lovely lads and are so talented. I can’t wait until March!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtNrCE_RNp0 – Kodaline Brand New Day

So even though I clearly love Kodaline, the 1975 stole my heart this year. I can’t fault them at all, their album is so well put together and I am so sad I’m not going to their concert in February. I have been listening to them non-stop on a loop since July and I have even converted some friends to loving the band. So far it’s alright, heart out, settle down and girls are my favourite songs. Give them a listen they are worth it!

Films:

Catching Fire: This was my most awaited film this year. I can’t even begin to describe my love for the hunger games trilogy, I plan on re reading them and over watching the films until the final one comes out next year. The books are amazing and the catching fire film did the book justice. It was brilliantly made and an amazing cinematic experience. I can’t wait to see it again!

The Great Gatsby.
Phenomenal. That is the first word I thought of describing this film. How Leonardo DiCaprio has not won an Oscar is a shock to me. He is so amazing and the true essence of this film. I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing Jay Gatsby. Between the soundtrack and the actors, the storyline if lifted and made 1000 times better. I have already over watched this film but I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of it. If you haven’t seen it where have you been?!

Lifestyle:
DCU: Passing my first year of college has made a huge impact on my life this year. Between getting into DCU and then going on to pass my first year in college is something I am very proud of. I am now in the middle of my second year and waiting semester one results, an exam at the end of January and a final assignment that is due on the 10th. I am trying my best not to stress and just get on with it. I love my course and I am so excited for semester two!

Friends:  It is so cliché but this year has really opened my eyes to who is really there for me and who I am there for. There have been several events that I have looked back on a realised who was actually there for me when I needed them the most. It’s all well and good having loads of friends but when it comes down to being there for one another, you have to look and see would they be willing to do things you would for them? Would they help you like you’ve helped them before? If yes is the answer to the both of those rhetorical questions, good for you! But if it’s a no maybe you should think about having a talk with your “friends”. If that doesn’t work maybe letting them go is the best option. In the end it is best to surround yourself with people that will lift you higher, not drag you down.

And my final round up of 2013 is Blogging: A very big part of my year was delving into the world of blogging and I am so glad I started. I always wanted to write but I felt like it was a farfetched dream and I would never actually be able to start. This was until May when I got a little push and started to make this dream into a reality. Writing this blog is something I look forward to writing every week. Even if it is to a small audience, I don’t really mind because I enjoy it and that’s all that matters to me. I have many plans for 2014 so stick around if you want to see where this blog takes me.

Au revoir until next time and happy New Year!

                       Friday Favourites.

Alohaaa and happy Friday to you! I can’t believe it is eleven days until Christmas, words can’t describe how excited I am! I am currently avoiding some college work that is due next week, I am the ultimate procrastinator... However, I plan to at least get all of my presentation done today. There hasn’t been a lot going on this week, I’ve just mainly been in college and work. I will be the happiest person next Friday because it is payday AND I’m finished college until my exams in January YAAAAY! Hope you all have a lucky Friday the 13th and enjoy todays post.

Fave quote:
I need this sign <3

Fave thing: Our Christmas tree! This year is my first year with a real Christmas tree. My mam and dad bought a fake one when I was one and it has been our tree ever since. But this year my mam was lusting after a real tree so we decided to get one. I don't have a photo on my camera or laptop but here is the tree on my Instagram and I'll leave the link below! We started decorating the house the other night at like midnight which was quite random but funny. After about half an hour, my mam decorated the remainder of the tree as we all started getting tired and heading to bed one by one haha. However, she did a really good job :] isn’t it so pretty?!  http://instagram.com/_clazz

Fave photo:

This is such a nice photo, I probably love it because I adore all those sun and moon quotes of forbidden love. I personally think they are so sweet.

Fave day: Tuesdays: After months of waiting I finally got my room painted. I’ve been waiting so long to get my room painted so I can start doing it up, like putting up photos and quotes and little things like that. I’m going to be getting some bits for my room on Sunday which I’m really excited about. My room is like a little grotto already haha.

Fave song: So far it’s alright- the 1975. It’s probably not a shock to anyone, I’m seriously just in love with this band, I managed to sell fifteen of their cd’s in the space of three weeks just telling people how good they are haha. I have been listening to this song every night going home from work, it’s just so calming and chilled I laav it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKQox1ztjKA#
So they were my Friday favourites, what are yours?
Au revoir until next time

                                       Four Friday Favourites

Aloha and happy first Friday of December to you! I am so happy it’s finally December, it has to be my favourite month of all time. There’s nothing I love more than the cold cosy nights in, festive nights out, hot drinks, chocolate, cosy things and most importantly Christmas day itself. I have nearly all of my Christmas presents already, I can’t really believe it haha. I have about five more things to get and then I’m done. I also only have two assignments to go and then I’m finished, yay!

Fave quote

Attract what you expect,
Reflect what you desire,
Become what you respect,
Mirror what you admire.

I am not sure who wrote this quote but I love whoever did! I like that it's short and sweet, but a very effective and positive message.

Fave song: John Newman: Losing sleep. I alore this song I’m loving John Newman a serious amount this week. I've been overplaying this song a ridiculous amount. His voice is so unique, and his new album tribute is worth the listen.

Fave laugh: Hard Out here Lilly Allen official video.

I am obsessed with the song and I am so glad Lilly Allen is back! Lilly Allen has never been afraid to speak her mind and it’s really shown in this video and song. I couldn’t stop laughing from the start right until the end. She is basically slagging the majority of rappers and their videos at the moment and she is doing a pretty good job at it. Between the balloons, the dancers and her classy dance moves it’s hilarious. She is completely right in what she is saying in the song, there is still a pretty big double standard when it comes to men and women.

Fave photo:

If this was wine instead of beer it would be perfect, I still love it anyway! If i had a bar this would definatey be sign on the door.

Au revoir until next time

Fashion and Beauty: 2013 November Favourites

                                         November Favourites.

Alohaaaa! I can’t believe it is the end of November this has been the quickest month by far. November has been one of my favourite months because some good things started to happen, just when I needed it. I got a Christmas job and a mentor which are both really exciting! I'm hoping December is kind as I have a lot of assignments coming up, and a lot of hours in work but, it will be all worth it in the end :)

Face: L'oreal true match. This is my all-time favourite high street foundation for so many reasons. It has amazing coverage, a great colour selection, as well as immense staying power. Most importantly it gives that flawless look which I love! I plan on doing a review on the foundation in the next coming weeks, going into more detail so stay tuned!

Skin care: Olay intense treatment eye cream. I’m so happy I have my eye cream back, which may seem sad to some of you but it's true haha. I really do believe that eye cream makes so much of a difference, under my eyes anyway! It weakness the appearance of dark circles and makes under your eyes so soft. This eye cream is a staple in my skin care routine and I notice straight away when I don't use it.

Body: Nivea in body shower conditioner. Ok no joking aside I don’t know how I lived without this product..it’s the best invention ever! I moisturise daily and it can get tedious, having to make your body cold after a lovely shower and then wait for it to dry. You apply this after you have washed with shower gel and gone are the days of after shower moisturising!

Fashion: R.I. Mid Wash Amelie Super Skinny Jeans

I am not a lover of jeans but I adored a pair for four years, until they died at the start of the month! They were gorgeous dark blue supper skinny jeans from River Island. The jeans were the only ones I bought that fit me perfectly and hugged me in all the right places. It wasn’t until they broke that I realised how much I needed another pair. It took me a week before I went on the hunt for a new pair. I looked around in various shops but I was drawn back to River Island. I knew the minute I tried them on, that they were the ones. I had four options and I didn’t even try on the other three, I went and bought them straight away. They are the Amelie supper skinny jeans by River Island, like my previous jeans they fit me perfectly, they are so comfy yet look tight just like a skinny jean should. I adore them and can’t stop wearing them!

Perfume: Vera Wang Love Struck-Floral Rush.

I picked this baby up in boots on offer at the start of the month and oh wow I’m so glad. I had eyed the perfume up since its launch months ago and I’m so happy I have it!  I'm bad at describing perfumes but it is the most gorgeous fresh sent, which I usually never go for. I keep over spraying it because I like it that much. I think I’m going to buy the giant bottle of it while I still have money coming in!

So they were my November favourites! Happy December to you & au revoir until next time!

                                  Five Friday Favourites

Alohaaa and happy Friday to you! The weeks are flying in! I can’t believe I only have three weeks left in semester one, I'm excited for my assignments to be finished so I can just relax. Until then I just have to plough through it :) I’m drafting my November favourites hopefully tomorrow so they will be up before December starts!

Fave quote

There will always be someone who will love you unconditionally whether it’s your family, best friends or whoever it is to you. However, It is extremely hard to remember this when you’re not feeling appreciated, wanted and even loved by a person you have all those feeling for. Saying this if the person who's making you feel worthless really did care about you, they would never make you feel bad. As the saying goes to the world you are one person, but to one person you are the world, it really is so true. You should never let anyone dull your sparkle.
Fave day: On Tuesday I went to see catching fire with my best friend Tara. We LOVE the hunger games trilogy, I even waited until she came home from Amsterdam so we could see it together! I’m happy to say I adored the film and I am already dying to see it again! Peta is my favourite character in the trilogy, he is just so loveable I wish he was mine :( haha. I’ve read the trilogy but even with this I was blank on some of the scenes and it took a while for me to remember, I might have to re-read the last book before the next film! Definitely go and see the film if you seen the first one and liked it. The acting is brilliant, to be honest the hole film is spectacular. It’s truly worth the watch.

Fave song: Beach Baby- Bon iver.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfCQ2MUbYaA

Do you ever forget how much you love an artist until you find them again? This always happens to me. I don't think Bon Iver gets enough credit, I really need to see him live! His voice makes me very nostalgic and always brings me back to be sixteen when I was first shown him. Bon Iver’s voice is so calm and soothing I just adore him. Beach baby is a really short song nonetheless it is one of my all-time favourites.

Fave laugh:

This makes me laugh because I can hear her saying it to either Chuck, Dan or her minions haha. I miss gossip girl so much! Blair’s quick one liners always made me laugh, long live queen B.

Someone take me to this place, please?

                                         Five Friday Faves.

Alohaaa and happy Friday to you! At the start of the week I hate to say that I was seriously stressed, I have a few assignments coming up and I was freaking out about making time to fit them all in. I tried to do three of them at the same time and crashed. However, I’ve made a better study plan and I am getting through the assignments day by day. I’m SO glad it’s finally Friday, I have the day off work and college so I am going to get some serious work done…hopefully haha. I’m hoping next week will be less stressful! I’m going to see Catching Fire on Tuesday with Tara so that’s something to look forward too! Now to my five Friday favourites :]

Fave quote

I am guilty when it comes to always looking ahead, I always put the future before the present and take days for granted some times. In my opinion it could be worse, I would hate to be one of those people that lives in the past and is always dwelling on it! I just love planning things, and knowing exactly what’s going on! But maybe I should live more in the moment, I have been this week literally taking things day by day. In doing this I’ve found my days to be less stressful because I’m just going with it and seeing where the day takes me
Fave song: The artic monkeys why do you only call me when you’re high. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIKQqvt-sWM
I am obsessed with this song, I heard it in work a few weeks ago for the first time and ah the album is so so good. I just love his accent he makes every word so cool. Especially when he says simmer down and pucker up.
Fave laugh

Oh god I found this pun page on facebook during the week, and the puns are so stupid that they are funny if you get me?
Fave thing: Film- spike island. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsrZk99s9LY#
I adore this film I don’t know what it is but I love the cast, the storyline and the soundtrack. It’s an easy film to watch, it’s funny with a good story line and lovable chararcters, check it out if you are interested! Also because of the film I have fallen in love with Elliott Tittensor and the Manchester accent! haha
Fave photo

Roses are my favourite flower of all time, I don’t even know why I just think they are so classy and gorgeous. I walk by a stand with amazing roses on it every day and I’m always tempted to buy a big bunch but I hate it when flowers die! Maybe I’ll get a fake rose or maybe just cave in a buy a bunch.
So they were my Friday faves what are yours?
Au revouir until next time

                                                        Five Friday Favourites.

Alohaaa and Happy Friday to you! I’ve had a busy week between starting back college, trying to do some college work and then balancing actual work, but I’m driving through it all! I just need to stay positive and keep moving forward :)

Fave quote:

I actually love this qoute. This is a perfect quote for people who look down on further education because they feel like going to university is pointless, and or a waste of time. I’m sick of people saying to me it’s not what education you have, it’s about who you know. This can be true half of the time in Ireland as regard to part time jobs, but it is not true with every job. I would like to think that when I get my degree and go out into the full time workforce, the work I’ve done will stand to me rather than knowing a friend or the owner. As for being overdressed, it is always nice to look nice, classy is better than trashy in my eyes haha.

Fave song: Monster  by Rhianna and Eminem. I love this song because it’s so catchy! My little sister showed it to me and I’ve been overplaying it ever since.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDXXi19_7iE

Fave thing: Yankee candle- November rain. This candle is the.best.candle.ever. I am literally obsessed with it! The only way to describe it is that it smells like a boy, because it actually does! It reminds me of a really nice boys aftershave, November rain is just amazing and everyone should have one.

Fave drink: Cadburys hot chocolate. I have been a little bit mad for hot chocolate this week, which is not good for me but I don’t really care. It’s the perfect thing to have when you’ve come in from the cold, after a long day of college, work or both haha.

Fave photo: Hi there I’ll have a venti Pug-achino please!

Has this converted any starbucks haters? haha
so they were my Friday favourites what are yours?

Au revoir until next time,

                                 Five Friday favourites

Aloha readers and happy Friday to you! I can’t believe it is Friday already, the week has really flown in! It has been a mad but good week for me, I started my new Christmas job on Wednesday and I really like it so far. I hope you have had a good week and enjoy todays post :)

 Fave quote

This is a perfect quote to describe how life is always bittersweet. The majority of the time we have to go through hard times or struggles so we can really appreciate opportunities we are given, or appreciate what we have. It’s important to remember that things will get better. No matter what you are going through, everything will fall into place in the end.

Fave song: the 1975 heart out. I have been overplaying this all week, the 1975 are one of the best bands around at the moment and I can’t get enough of them. Check them out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HD7KASmeVjs

Fave thing. Starbucks red cups. It's Christmas season baby! I had a gorgeous caramel hot chocolate in a red cup yesterday and it really made me feel Christmassy. November is when I start getting excited for Christmas. It’s the little things like the Starbucks cups and drinks, the lights and the shopping that make me feel excited and festive.

Fave laugh. Jenna marbles photo booth tag. This is hilarious, I couldn’t stop watching this, me and my moths(friends) also love this app! When we found the app first it gave us hours of entertainment the faces are just so funny haha

Fave photo: little penguin

Is this not the cutest thing you will see today?!
Have a happy Friday and au revoir until next time

Motivational Monday: Beauty

                                                  Nailed it.

Today is a beauty post about my autumn/winter nails if you haven’t guessed already! There have been four nail varnish’s I have been loving since the season started. So if you are a lover of nail varnish, or want to get into painting your nails keep reading!
Chanel: 219 Black Satin. This is a gorgeous colour, like the name suggests it applies like satin with a beautiful black shine. The main thing I love about this nail varnish is the staying power. It lasts for a week without chipping, which I think is amazing!

Barry M: 320 foll effects 225. This is the perfect colour for a glamorous night out. The gold dries to a matte effect which looks gorgeous on the nail. The colour lasts days without chipping, and comes in under a tenner so it’s a steal!

Barry M: 356 Cosmo Berry.  Cosmo Berry is my favourite nail varnish from the four today. This is mainly because of the colour. I have been looking for this type of berry for ages and now I finally have it, yay! I am wearing it on my nails today, so that shows how much I love it! The colour is a lovely deep berry however, it can look black in some lights. The varnish is easy to apply, dries fast and leaves a beautiful shine. What more could you want from a nail varnish?

Chanel: 565 Beige. I never usually wear light colours like this beige on my nails, because of my pale skin. But, I have to say there is just something about this shade that I can’t get enough of. It makes my nails look so elegant, and soft. Like the Chanel 219 it stays without chipping, it is easy to apply and I adore wearing it.

So they are my picks for Aumtum/Winter 2013, what are yours?

Au revoir until next time,

Motivational Mondays: Fashion

                                       Mod like on a Monday.

Alohaa and happy Monday! Today is a fashion post about two Pennys/Primark oversized coatigans that I have been over wearing, so much so that they deserve their own post.

I am literally obsessed with these oversized coatigans. I saw the dogtooth coatigan in an ad for pennys/primark autumn winter launch and I just had to have it. When they were launched in Dublin I went to buy one straight away and began to fall in love! I then had buyer’s remorse for two weeks so I had to back to get the coatigan black haha.  I’m sure people think I never change or something, I've been wearing them that much, but I don’t care I adore them! You can buy the coatigans for 25 euro, I honestly think they look more expensive which is always a plus. They are not great for keeping you extra warm however, they are perfect for the weather at the moment. The weather seems freezing but when you are out in it, it isn’t actually that cold. I find the amount of heat they keep with a scarf around your neck is just right! The coatigans remind of a jacket my mam had when she was my age in her mod phase, which I think is really cute! Both colours go with everything, I like to wear skirts and dresses under them to make a look more feminine. I prefer wearing the coatigans open as I think it is more figure flattering! I hope you enjoyed todays post, definitely check the coatigans out of you think you would like them.

Au revoir until next time

                                        Five Friday Favourites

Aloha, and happy Friday to you! The weeks are flying in and I don’t even know what to do with myself. Week four of semester one has just ended and I haven’t done any work at all. I really need to sort myself out this weekend and start working! I’m feeling positive about it because it’s a long weekend so I even have an extra day! I also cannot believe Halloween is less than a week away... I am SO excited. Anyway that’s enough of my rambling, hope you all had a fab week and enjoy todays post!

Fave quote

I really love this and think it's so sweet! The quote reminds me of when you have a really good dream that feels so real, you're completely happy but then you wake up, realise it was a dream and feel a little sad. I don't know about you but I always try to have the dream again when I go back to sleep but sadly it never works for me ha ha.
Fave thing.
My favourite thing that happened this week has to be Kim Kardashian and Kanye West getting engaged! I think everyone knows I love anything Kardashian and when I found out about the engagement was delighted for them. The thing I loved most about the engagement, was Lana Del Ray’s Young and Beautiful being played by the orchestra in the background as he asked her to marry him. Young and Beautiful is one of my top five favourite songs of all time. I have overplayed it to death but I still get a lovely feeling whenever I listen to it. Ugh it’s so perfect!
Fave laugh
I find this hilarious my sister showed it to me and I’ve been replaying it ever since. Spegy merbles is my ultimate fave from the video, it’s so funny!
Fave song
Nirvana- Sam Smith
I adore this song. And I really can’t fault it, between the lyrics, the meaning, and the tempo it is seriously so good! you take me to nirvana.

Fave photo

This is soo cute how could you not smile at this?! This pug is also a shout out to my friend Aoife (Queeny) to make her smile today as she has to get up mega early to be a top student while I stay in bed because i'm not in college today! :)
So they are my Friday faves what are yours?!
Au revoir until next time.

                             Five Friday Favourites.

Happy Friday!

I hope you enjoy todays post and have a happy Friday whatever you are doing. I am heading into town with my moths tonight and seriously craving a cheeky drink or two!

Fave quote:

This quote speaks for itself. It sums up the week I was having, I was feeling a little lost and unsure, and because of this I spent the majority of the week thinking and sorting things out. I had a great talk with one of my friends yesterday, it was really lovely because we never really talk seriously, we just always have a laugh. Her perspective and advice left a great impact on me and I’ve really taken it on board. I do believe that everything happens for a reason and things will always get better but, it is easy to forget from time ,to time. I’m looking forward to a great weekend and to start a fresh week!

Fave laugh: Kathryns Tweet.

Kitty McLoughlin ‏@Kathryn_McL

@TypicaIGirl: but officer they were fucking with my clique” @_Clarra.

I actually lol’d when I saw this, I’d love to say that to someone haha.  Clique by Jay Z and Kanye West is one of my favorite songs of all time, it is such an anthem. Ain’t nobody fresher than my clique, clique, clique, clique, clique! The majority of my favorite tweets are my friend Kathryn’s, she always says or retweets something funny and it looks like I stalk her, but I love it :)

The summer set jukebox. This is such an upbeat song that puts me in the best of moods! I’ve loved the summer set since I was about fourteen and I’m so glad they are back, they make me feel nostalgic when I listen to them it’s so cute.

Fave film:
The City of immortal bones.
I wanted to see this film the minute I seen the advertisement months back, but it wasn’t well advertised in the cinema so I missed it sadly.  However, I watched it online and fell in love. I really want to read the books now to see what happens to Clary and Jay! I don’t think I have the patience to wait for the film.

Fave photo: Come little children I’ll take the away into a land of enchantment…. The Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus.
I am feeling very excited for Halloween it's getting closer and closer! I have already watched this film three times since the month started..it never gets old for me! My favourite sister is Sarah Sanderson, as a child I wanted to be her for Halloween ever year, because she was the “pretty witch” haha.

Au revoir till next time!
