Five Friday Favourites: Lifestyle and Entertainment

Aloha and happy Friday to you!

This Friday I am in class! I'll be spending my weekend preparing for the week ahead as there are a few things I have up my sleeve that I will be filling you in on! One thing in particular is my new blog fromlipsticktolyrics.  It is a marketing and PR focused blog that I am writing and if all goes well I will combine it with this personal blog. The content on this blog for the next coming months will be the usual fashion, beauty and entertainment pieces. So here are my five Friday favourites this week!

Fave quote:

Fave song:
Hotline Bling – Conor Maynard.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHJtSzDjMh4

Overplayed is a serious understatement. Conor’s mashup of Hotline Bling by Drake, Can’t feel my face by the weeknd, and What do you mean by Justin Bieber is perfection to my ears. Current and catchy what more could you ask for?

Fave drink:
Bald Barista- Mocha.

The Bald Barista is a coffee shop located on Auinger Street and St Stephens green. It sells reasonably priced amazing quality,  and most importantly tasty coffees!  I don’t drink coffee very often but when I do I like to experiment. Hence the mocha, i like it because it tastes of chocolate and also has that coffee kick!

Fave show:
Gotham.

I am loving this story about the city of gotham pre batman. The show is about the majority of the leading characters of Batman in their younger days. Check it out on Netflix.

Fave person:
Gigi Hadid.
I was seriously inspired by her message to people who were trying to bring her down. You can find it here https://instagram.com/p/8LCm44jCcx/?taken-by=gigihadid

Au revoir for now,

Lifestyle; music, TV and inspiration.

                                                              Five Friday Favourites

Aloha and happy first Friday of September to you! I adore September, probably because I am a Virgo baby it is my birthday month and it always seems to fly in! But besides that I think it marks the beginning of a fresh start. The autumnal weather starts to kick in, kids are back to school, students to college and it is a countdown to fun events like Halloween and dare I say it….Christmas. I’m spending my next two weeks getting into a routine and picking up bits and pieces before I start my masters on the 21st!

Fave quote:

I really do think there is a lot of truth behind this quote. Sometimes we can get seriously caught up in our minds, over thinking, worrying and stressing. When this happens to me the first thing I think of doing is going for a walk to relax my mind, body and soul! You only live your life for yourself, when you’re happy and positive others around you will be that too. Things can change by choosing to look at them in a different light. You are in control of who you are and where you want to be. PS. I’m seriously considering rewatching gossip girl for probably the sixth time in my life but I don’t know if I will! It is things like this quote that make me miss the trials and tribulations of the Upper East Side.

Fave song: Reflection – Fifth Harmony.
This is just an upbeat fun song that I can’t get enough of recently. I think the fifth harmony songs are extremely catchy and such easy listens. If you haven’t looked them up already check them out.

Fave day: Lunch with Katie.
Finally after 14 months in the land of Oz my friend Katie has returned home. To say I missed her is an understatement! We never went long periods of time without talking but seeing her in person was just one of the best feelings, she is one of my best friends and I’m so glad she is home! We had a lovely sushi date which was perfection, chats, good vibes and friendship what more could you want?

Fave show: The West Wing.

I am loving this show, I am half way into season 1 and enjoying every minute of it. It is an older show but I have had it on a must watch list for quite a while. It is my go to in my post shower chill time.

Fave thing: Having a microwave once again.

Our microwave died about three months ago and I was seriously lost without it! I’m a porridge and scrambled egg girl which I have mastered making with the microwave, quick and easy and cooked to perfection. Well that was not the case when I had to make it using the hob, it was much more effort and no fun at all, the prep and the cleaning was a drag and the majority of time I just would not bother! Alas my microwave has returned and so has my quick and healthy lunch and breakfast. Yay for technology and the lazy girl’s stance on cooking!

Au revoir for now,

Lifestyle; food, film and fun things!

                                                                    Five Friday Favourites.

Aloha and happy Friday to you! I hope you all have a lovely Friday and enjoyable weekend whatever you get up to.

Fave quote:

For a few reasons this summer I took a step back because the plans I had made all seemed to fall through. I still had an enjoyable summer with my loved ones but, I was not as happy and confident in myself as I usually am. This started to turn about a week ago, I just snapped out of it. I have gotten back on track with my daily walks and healthier food choices, trying to incorporate the odd work out here and there. When I don’t exercise and not eat as well as I should it does affect me, so now that I’m on a better track I can keep getting better. I have also had some talks about other life choices with various different people and they have all basically said the same thing, which is I need to believe in myself a little more. So I am, I know I am capable in doing whatever I want to, it is just having the bravery to do it.

Fave film: The Princess and the frog.

Yes it is a children’s film and no I do not care, it is amazing.  I was inspired to watch it after a few of my friends were going back on Disney films and rewatching them. As I have three younger sisters I think I have watched all of my favourites way more than I should have over the past 20 years, alas there is the newer ones I have only seen once or twice. So I decided to rewatch the princess and the frog and I loved it. The new Orleans vibes full of music, fun and food along with a magnificent twist made the film so enjoyable and unlike an remaking before it.

Fave drink: Nescafe azera Americano.

I am an odd one when it comes to coffee and tea, in all honesty if I’m not in the mood I will not drink it. With regards to tea I only drink it if I have twirl bites, giant buttons or some form of dairy milk chocolate to dip into it! However, with coffee I am not as strict. When meeting with a friend for coffee I’ll opt for a frozen one or a macchiato as they are my favourites! Then at home I don’t reach for it at all instead it is my love of lemon water and actual water itself. In saying this at the weekends because Robbie likes a coffee in the morning, I have gotten into the habit of weekend morning coffees and it’s because this brand is so tasty! There is a subtle richer taste to it and it honestly leaves you wanting more.

Fave song: Glitterball Ella Henderson.

I adore Ella Henderson I think she is so talented and has such a powerful voice, this song puts me in an instant good mood and makes me feel summery! Check it out of you haven’t already.

Fave food: Dairymilk crunchie bits.

This chocolate is my new obsession I literally can’t get enough of it but I need to stop before I turn into one. It is basically a giant golden crisp and it is addictive. Ugh I’d love one now!

Au revoir for now,

                                                                         Five Friday Favourites

Aloha and happy Friday to you! This Friday is a family day as I’m spending my first Friday at home in several months. This week was one of the nicest weeks I’ve had in a long time seeing and speaking to all of my loved ones has put me back into a much better frame of mind. I can’t believe it’s the first of August tomorrow! Summer has both dragged and flown at the same time. with only 30 days until one of my best friends Katie comes home from being down under for over a year, I am more than excited to see her. August also marks the month before my masters begins which is very exciting altogether! I’m hoping the month will be a good one. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Fave quote:

I adore this quote as I can see a lot of truth in it. I am sick to death of justifying myself to people with regards to my education and career. After months of crappy words of wisdom being bestowed upon me I have officially given up caring about what some people think of me. At the end of the day, the people you surround yourself with should support you and lift you higher, rather than bring you down by judging and questioning you in your life choices. You live your life for your own happiness and your own success.

Fave thing: Lozz’s Harry Potter night in.
with photo credit to Sinead :)

Yes you read that right a Harry Potter night in! We are all lovers of Harry potter both the books and the films and we are not embarrassed one bit ha-ha. This was one of the best nights I have had in a long time! I was having a great day before hand so the girlie night in topped it all off! Laura delived handmade invites to our houses and decorated her house all things Harry Potter, it was great! We had a feast in our own version of a grand hall and spent the night watching Harry Potter, catching up and chilling out, it was perfect!

Fave eat; HB swirl.

I am not ice creams biggest fan but I cannot resist a HB swirl! While in town on Tuesday on a sestra date (Orphan black reference) myself Emma and Maria treated ourselves to one! I opted for a strawberry base with fresh strawberries, milk and white chocolate and it was so yummy. If you are in the Jervis centre head on over to it, you will not be disappointed!

Fave song: Meghan Trainor ft Charlie Puth; Marvin Gaye.

I adore this song I think Charlie Puth has the sweetest voice and paired with Meghan Trainor it gave him this new fun cheeky side. A seriously catching tune that I’m sure will blow up in no time!

Fave film; Fury.

I watched Fury over the weekend and loved it, I missed it in the cinema and completely forgot about it until Robbie mentioned it was really good and we should watch it so we did. It was everything I love in a film, based on world war two with a great storyline full of loyalty and friendship. It is definitely one to watch if you haven't seen it already.

Lifestyle, Music, Quotes, Beauty.

                                                                    Five Friday Favourites.

Aloha and happy Friday to you! Hoping you all had a great week and continue to have a lovely weekend. I have had a very chill week as I was sick for the majority and still not 100% so I just had some chill quality time with the family. With this in mind the post is a little on the short side, hope you enjoy!

Fave quote:

Fave tan: Cocoa brown dark.

One thing I missed this week was being tanned. It makes everything so much better and makes me feel amazing. Cocoa Brown is such a great, affordable tan that I will always go back too. I accidently picked up the darker tan but I really couldn’t tell that much of a difference. The colour lasts over five days on me before going patchy and fades nicely. I have scrubbed off my tan and currently deciding if I will be retanning today! You can buy cocoa brown online or in pharmacies around the country. This tan is so good even the famous Kylie Jenner rocks it. If you’re looking for a good affordable no hassle tan, check out Cocoa Brown.

Fave body product: Nivea rich nourishing dry skin.

Since the weather has become warmer my skin is seriously craving moisture. Though palmers cocoa butter will always be my holy grail body cream I’m trying to save it, so I have stolen my sisters moisturiser and it has been working a treat! I used the Nivea in body moisturiser last summer and adored it. The everyday cream is extremely thick and needs to be moisturised into the skin as soon as you apply it, as it dries quickly. It leaves the skin smelling lovely and feeling extremely soft. Try it out!

Fave person: Amy Schumer

It's official I love her! All week I’ve been watching interviews and some of her stand up comedy, she’s never failed to make me laugh. I can’t wait for her film trainwreck to come out as it looks seriously funny!

Fave song: Kwabs perfect ruin.

A day hasn’t gone by in the past month where I haven’t listened to this song. The vocals and lyrics are stunning and a great listen for any time of the day, check it out!

Au revoir for now,

Lifestyle post.

Five Friday Favourites.

Aloha and happy Friday to you! This Friday I’m packing, pampering and sorting out a few bits and bobs. I’m slightly burnt after a glorious sunny week in Dublin, craving a tan I am now darker on the top of my body and the same everywhere else. However I will be tanned all over this evening after I fake tan with coco brown for the last two days of the Irish summer!

Fave quote.

I find a lot of truth in this quote, because who you are is a choice. I wasn’t really feeling this week until a turnaround yesterday. I was feeling down about an array of things and I was focusing on all the bad and ignoring the good things in my life. However, chats with the people closest have helped me get back on the brighter side! I decided to hop back on my “everything happens for a reason” way of life. I’m feeling good and thankful for my loved ones :)

Fave food: Wagamama's Cha Han.

I have been craving this dish for SO long, yesterday Robbie took me to wagamama’s and I was in my element. As he is not a lover of Japanese food I was very proud of him for trying a similar rice dish which had chicken instead of fish… one day I’ll have him loving sushi yesterday’s dinner was a step in the right direction haha.

Fave drink: Starbucks Coffee frappuccino.

Starbucks coffee fraps own my heart in the world of ice coffee they’re perfection on a sunny day or whenever I’m in the mood for a coffee. I am also now the holder of a frappuccino card… three more until my freebie!

 Fave photo

I love coming home after a few days away from my house, theres nothing like getting into your own bed and having some quality me time. Plus being home means cuddles with my little monster #mothsbestfriend

A return to the blogging world.

                                                       Five Friday favourites.

Well hello there stranger!

Apologies for my absence from my lovely little blog recently, college and life in general took over! I found it hard to find time to write content I enjoyed writing as well something that was enjoyable to read. However, I am back and have a list of several posts that will follow this one. On Wednesday the 24th of June I found out I received my honours degree, it was a very proud moment for my family and friends but most importantly myself. I say this because I did the degree for myself, because at the end of the day your life is for you and not for others happiness is the end goal. The future plan so far is starting my masters in PR in September and I can’t wait! I am enjoying the time off and seeing everyone without worrying about assignments. June has been a mix of good and bad but isn’t life always the two? I plan to carry the good into July and try to better myself with regards to stressing less, and being healthier! Clean eating, less alcohol and yoga are on the cards so we’ll see how that goes!

Fave quote:

No one man or woman, girl or boy, should ever give up who they are or hide away a part of them in fear someone will not accept them. In this world we are only here for a length of time, everyone has the right to spend their time surrounded by people they love and being who they are. Everyone is always going to have an opinion yes, but no one has the right to bring you down or diminish you in any way. Choose happiness and ignore the hate, they’ll find something else to give out about next week!

Fave song: Jealous Labyrinth cover Laura Zocca.

I adore the original song but I just love Laura’s cover. It so easy to listen to at any stage of the day! I love that you can hear the emotion in her voice as it carries through the song as if it was her own. Check this talented girl out :)

Fave show: Orphan black.

I am obsessed and in love with this show! I avoided it for months because I thought it was a scary show and I am a baby when it comes to horror and scary movies. However, it was nothing I thought it would be! Helena is my favourite character by far I just love her so much haha! If you have not watched it yet check it out on Netflix!

Fave drink:

This is literally my favourite wine I have found to date. It is the smoothest, nicest merlot around and it is extremely hard to find as it is only stocked in one restaurant in Dublin! This bottle is nowhere to be found in off licenses or wine stores (cries) but maybe that's another reason why it is so great. This wine is on the more expensive side and since I’m living la vida broka at the moment I can’t have it! However, my lovely boyfriend bought me a bottle and I cherished every drop, he’s a keeper!

Fave picture:

I love this for many reasons. One reason being it was our first little mini trip away which was a lovely break in Cork, since our sunny plans have been put on the back burner. I don’t think it matters where I go with this one, because I’ll always have a good time :). But on a serious level I need to practice smiling so I’ll have nicer pictures to look back on when I’m older haha!
